Kid's Chess Game Day (fun tournament and gameplay) - 10am-2pm Berkley Library Main Meeting Room.WHAT: Kids elementary through junior high are welcome to participate in a One Day non-sanctioned chess tournament and fun play session (non-tournament) on November 27th, 2024. I'm Bob McClure and I've organized this event primarily for middle school students (but all are welcome) who do not have any holiday camp options and who are not traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday. We can accommodate around 30-35 kids. I will be supervising and hopefully one additional adult. I have a background check on file with Berkley School district. WHERE AND WHEN: We were planning on utilizing the space for roughly 4 hours (10am-2pm) for chess at the Berkley Public Library main meeting room. Beginners are welcome as well as those who wish to have an informal round robin competition. (Round robin means everyone plays every match, ones with highest points at end wins a small prize.) WHAT TO BRING: if you have a chess set bring it. If you have a chess clock bring it. Water bottle, lunch/snacks = bring. NOTES: this is a public space we are using and must be respectful and courteous. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. If you leave the event early please inform your parents or caregivers.
