Open to players born on or after 31st August 2012 and with no prior tournament experience or with less than 1000 ECF rating

Grand Prizes

Defender of The King Award

This award is given to the Sportsperson who demonstrates how best to defend the King.

Best Sportsmanship Award

This Award is given to the Sportsperson who shows fairness, honesty, respect and responsibility towards their opponents.

March Hare Award

This award is given to the Sportsperson who wins a game either by playing one of that Great Mad Hatter International Master Mike Basman's Openings or demonstrating a beautiful sacrifice (safe or swindle) or by any other impressive tactical move.

Prizes For the Best Dressed Wonderland-Themed Player

There will be random surprise prizes; even for the best dressed parent! In total more than 80 prizes for 50 signed up participants.

Sportspersons must be a member of the English Chess Federation in order to become rated players. The ECF junior silver membership is free for a year then it's £6 per annum .

Safeguarding: Please note that ONE accompanying adult MUST be present at all times during the event as the venue is open to the public. There will be only 50 chairs for accompanying adults inside the playing hall. Adults are not allowed to stroll or watch while the games are in progress. Child’s allergy or any other illness that the organisers should be aware of please mention when you register your them. Photos may be taken but ask permission from opponents. Please mention in your email that you are NOT happy to have your child/children's photo taken by the organiser and possibly published on social media or websites. Thank you.
